 | There is a quote from Hodding Carter Jr.’s Where Main Street Meets the River that expresses the spirit that made Greenville an relative oasis of grace and tolerance in a harsh time. Carter writes what Will Percy told him on their last visit before Percy’s death in 1942. 
"You can’t do anything on the grand scale," he said. "But when this [war] comes to an end, you can work again for your own people in your own town. It isn’t national leaders we need so much as men of good will in each of the little towns of America. So try to keep Greenville a decent place by being a correct citizen yourself.
The total of all the Greenvilles will make the kind of country we want or don’t want." |

Greenville Arts Council hosts a Delta Collects exhibition every other year
showcasing works from private collections in the Delta area. |  No official signings this month but CAROLYN HAINES visits McCormick Book Inn July 3 to sign stock copies of her new Delta Bones mystery BONE APPETIT. The setting is the Viking Cooking School in Greenwood
and the food is to die for. Drop by for a visit. She'd love to see you (and so would we)! |
